Medina is the second holiest city in Islam and the burial place of the Prophet Muhammad. Centered around Al-Masjid an-Nabawi (The Prophet’s Mosque), distinguished by its iconic Green Dome, the city holds immense spiritual significance. Like Mecca, the sacred core is closed to non-Muslims. Medina is known for its serene and peaceful atmosphere, contrasting with the hustle of Mecca. Historically an oasis city, it is still celebrated for its date palms, particularly the Ajwa date. It is a major terminus for the Haramain High Speed Railway, connecting pilgrims rapidly to Jeddah and Mecca.
