Riyadh is the capital and financial hub of Saudi Arabia, located on a desert plateau in the center of the country. Once a small mud-brick walled town, it has exploded into a sprawling metropolis of skyscrapers and 8 million people. It is the center of the “Vision 2030” transformation plan. The skyline is defined by the Kingdom Centre (with its sky bridge) and the Al Faisaliah Center. While ultra-modern, Riyadh preserves its roots in the Diriyah district (the birthplace of the first Saudi state), which is being restored into a massive cultural heritage destination.
