Dallas is a modern metropolis in north Texas and a commercial and cultural hub of the region. It is known for its glitz, big business—particularly in oil, telecommunications, and banking—and the Dallas Cowboys. The city features the largest arts district in the United States, spanning 68 acres of walkable downtown space. Dallas is part of the massive Dallas-Fort Worth “Metroplex,” a sprawling urban area. It has a rich history, including the somber legacy of the JFK assassination at Dealey Plaza, but today it is defined by a booming economy, luxury shopping, and a sophisticated dining scene.
