Minneapolis is the larger of the “Twin Cities” (along with St. Paul) and serves as a major cultural and economic hub for the Upper Midwest. It is known for its abundant water, with the Mississippi River flowing through it and the “Chain of Lakes” providing massive recreational spaces. To combat its harsh winters, the city developed the Skyway system, the longest continuous indoor pedestrian walkway in the world, connecting downtown buildings. Minneapolis has a vibrant arts scene, with more theater seats per capita than any U.S. city outside New York, and is near the massive Mall of America.
